I've wanted to start a blog for a long time, but never seemed to find the time to it get started. Now that the deed is done I have a place where family, friends, and employers can have a chance to see what I've been up to.
To start off, I'm going to talk about why I choose to use Joomla! for my own site. Although I'd like to have a handcrafted site using Ruby on Rails or some PHP MVC Framework (which is what I've been developing with recently), but I just don't have the time. I've been consulting and doing some clutch fixes for a good friend of mine, Brendon Maxwell, for several years on his coffee business (Utopian Coffee Co) which uses Joomla. As I'm starting to get more involved with him and his activities, I decided to use Joomla as my own CMS so that I could develop some specific skills for him . After I got it installed, I must say I was happy to see the "...because open source matters" in the header of the default template, so I decided to leave that up. Hopefully, I'll get around to making my own template soon enough.
